Campus Tour
What do you do if you’re planning to go to college? You do your research. Part of researching colleges is visiting campuses and taking college tours. I remember this process and I have relived it through my oldest son and daughter. There’s usually a shuttle and an undergraduate tour guide who shows off the picturesque parts of campus.
As a very young adult, I visited and fell in love with the campus of University of California Santa Cruz, and subsequently fell in love with the printmaking process via the female faculty powerhouse of Kay Metz and Zarina Hashmi. Almost thirty years after graduation, I returned to campus as a research associate at the Contemporary Print Media Research Center to do a self-guided tour across the golden hills and walking paths that lead from the campus entrance to the printmaking studios. The resulting body of work reflects my ruminations and research as each morning’s march up and evening stroll down revealed something different, equal parts new and familiar.
